Frequently Asked Questions
Is Reiki some weird religion?
The basis of reiki is all about energy. Energy is all around us and is found in everything. Reiki is a holistic practice that involves creating an energetic space that fosters a subject’s self-healing. Reiki always works for the animal’s or person’s higher good. You do not need to believe in the effectiveness of Reiki for it to work.
The system of Reiki is Japanese in origin. “Rei” means “spirit,” and “Ki” means “energy,” so the word “Reiki” literally translates to “spiritual energy.” Therefore Reiki is without dogma and beliefs, so it is compatible with any religious philosophy. Reiki does not assume to be god-like. It is simply accessing the energy that already exists around us. Nothing ‘woo woo’ or new age about that.
So – what is Reiki? Simply, please.
Reiki is a healing practice that promotes balance in body, mind, emotions, and spirit. Reiki promotes healing by activating the relaxation response and helps the body balance itself from a deep level.
Please note: Reiki energy is available for everyone to access. I simply act as a conduit of the energy that already surrounds us. Your cat does not draw from my energy, but rather, your cat is receiving the energy due to my intention and attention as a caring practitioner.
Why would I want to offer Reiki to my cat?
If you want a gentle and noninvasive technique for supporting feline wellness, look no further than Reiki. Reiki can create relaxation and peace in even the most stressed-out cases. Reiki is ideal for cats living in loving homes and shelters and for rescued cats. Providing Reiki regularly can help your cat stay emotionally, mentally, and physically strong and happy — and it’s especially effective as a complementary treatment to other care, whether holistic or traditional.
What else can Reiki do for my cat?
Reiki can help to:
- Calm behavioral problems
- Release anxiety or fear
- Relieve pain
- Boost a cat’s confidence
- Enhance the effectiveness of medication and healing ability
- Accelerate post-operative recovery – speeds healing
- Boost the immune system – especially before cancer or other treatments
- Assist with the normal aging process
- Ease life transitions – especially at the time of or close to passing
What is Distance Healing?
Distance healing is a way for me to offer Reiki’s healing energy to anyone, anywhere in the world. Healing energy is not bound by the laws of time and space and does not need travel time. It arrives at its destination immediately, directed by the intention of me, the practitioner. Reiki works by intention.
So hands-off? You don’t have to touch my cat for Reiki to help?
That is correct. Cats are especially sensitive to Reiki energy and will benefit significantly from the approach of treating from a distance, meditatively and respectfully “offering” rather than physically and actively “giving” Reiki with physical contact (as is often done in human Reiki treatments).
How does long-distance healing work?
When we use cell phones to call someone, energy travels from one phone to another to make the connection successful. Although we don’t actually see this line of energy traveling to the tower back and forth with our eyes, it is still being transmitted, helping one person to talk and text to another at light speed. Energy healing work is performed long distance along similar frequency beaming concepts. The human eye cannot see the transmissions, but my energy connects to your cat’s energy, and they connect fully with me.
Distance healing has proven as effective as in-person sessions, as time and space are no constraints to the healing process. Additionally, distance Reiki helps to avoid any distress for your cat, especially if your cat is skittish or aggressive to strangers.
The best part of scheduling a long-distance Reiki session is you don’t have to be with your pet during the session, so scheduling is very convenient (of course, you can be with them during the session if you like.)
Do you do long-distance Reiki healing sessions on other animals?
Yes! And I am available anywhere in the USA or the world.
Reiki for animals is increasing in use due to many reasons:
- It is safe,
- gentle and relaxing,
- non-invasive.
- The animals are in control at all times,
- Reiki always works for the animal’s higher good,
- it can be done remotely,
- and it is applicable for ferals, wildlife, rescues, hard to reach & handle animals

Is Reiki a substitute for traditional medical intervention?
No -Reiki is a complementary therapy that complements standard medical treatments. If your pet is experiencing any health problems, please immediately consult a licensed veterinarian.
However, research has revealed that patients (humans and animals) receiving Reiki show an increase in their energy, recuperate faster, need less pain medication, and experience fewer side effects from medication.
